By now
you should know that I’m a huge John Green fan. This is the third of his books
that I’ve read and I loved every bit of it. The writing is amazing, the story
line is amazing, and the very subtle jokes dispersed throughout the book are
amazing. This was one of those books where I had to get out my little post-it
notes and flag pages and quotes to go back to later. And there were quite a few
of them. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Green does a magnificent
job of making you feel as if you were actually on this great adventure with his
characters. You feel as if you are right beside Quentin, Margo, and their
friends the whole time. Paper Towns definitely
lived up to my expectations of a John Green novel and it is very high up on my recommendation
list.

Announcement
I've decided to change things up a bit. I'll still be posting the book reviews on the regular schedule, every other Monday, but I'll also be adding a few things to the blog. I have an obsession with music, so every Wednesday (starting today) I'm going to post a playlist to share with you guys. This is kind of a quest for me to find new music as well as expose you all to some of my favorite songs. Also, I really love to write poetry, so I'd like to start posting some of that on here too, but I'll wait a little while for that. The first playlist will be up in a few minutes!
P.S I changed the name of the blog to "Morgan's Musings" but I can't change the URL so it will still be morgansbookoasis.blogspot.com

City of Stairs
***This is a Blogging for Books review***
City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett
Rating: 3 stars
I had a really difficult time getting into this book. The start was slow moving and confusing. This review will be short because I personally did not care for the book, but any rating below three stars would be wrong because I was completely captivated by Bennett's magnificent world-building. The Continent, Saypur, and Bulikov are the results of a wonderful imagination that cannot be overlooked. The reviews I read for this book had me excited to read it, but it just didn't live up to my expectations. This was one of those books where I can't even pinpoint why I didn't enjoy it, I only know that I was counting down the pages to the end.

Beechwood Island
We Were Liars by

I don’t
even know how to start this review. I loved the book. This was one of the best,
not to mention most powerful, books I’ve ever read. It started out a little slow and
it took a few pages for me to really become interested. But, when I did, I was
entranced. Lockhart uses fragmented sentences often and it can be frustrating
to read at times, but she manages to pull you in with Cadence’s story and make
you feel as if you were one of the Liars. Lockhart’s writing and the ending to We Were Liars reminds me a lot of John
Green’s. This book was tragic. It was beautiful. It was so unpredictable and I was completely
taken by surprise at the ending.
