The Londons

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
Rating: DNF
More Info
"I'd rather die on an adventure than live standing still."

I was really excited to read this book after finishing This Savage Song, also written by Schwab. I was pulled into this story from the very beginning and I made it about halfway through before something changed. I don't exactly know why, but I just did not want to read any further. I tried to just continue, but I couldn't get into the story anymore. I have this book in an audiobook format, which may be the reason I didn't want to finish it since I sometimes find it difficult to listen to audiobooks. I may or may not revisit this book in the future in a different format and see if that makes a difference. For now, I would still recommend this book because it is an interesting story line and not something I personally have read before.

Monsters of Verity

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab
Rating: 5 stars
More Info
"It was a cruel trick of the universe, thought August, that he only felt human after doing something monstrous."

I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to read this book at first because it just didn't seem like something I would enjoy. Boy, was I wrong. This book was, to put it simply, absolutely amazing. The storyline is like nothing I have read before, which was really refreshing. I have never read any of Schwab's books before, but I will definitely make it a point to read them now. I was hoping there would be some romance, but it was only hinted at in this book, so I hope that will be a part of the rest of the series. Even without any romance, I still loved this book and can't wait for the rest to be released. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the Young Adult genre.

"It surprised me because she put it as well (or better) than I could have and made a simple point she didn’t even intend: being disabled wasn’t the main thing about her."

I tried really hard to get into this book because it had such great reviews, but I barely got even 15% through before I realized I just could not read any further. There was just something that stopping me from really getting into the story line.
