Throne of Glass- Sarah J Maas

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Rating: 5 Stars

The Breakdown: Celaena Sardothien is an assassin who has just spent the last year of her life as a slave in a mine. The King has decided to host a competition to find his own personal assassin to do his bidding and the Prince has chosen Celaena as his Champion. As Celaena trains and competes in Tests to win her freedom, she grows closer to Prince Dorian and Chaol Westfall, Dorian’s best friend and the captain of the guard. When death hits the castle during the competition, Celaena is forced to figure out what happened while also protecting herself.

Favorite Quote: "We all bear scars…Mine just happen to be more visible than most”

The Review: I have been a huge fan of SJM for years ever since I read her Court of Thorns and Roses series. That series is one of my absolute favorites and I have been wanting to start reading the Throne of Glass series for quite some time. I started this book many years ago, but life got in the way and I just never finished it. When I picked this back up, I was enthralled from the very beginning and could not put it down. I loved how the story did not focus so heavily on the romance aspect. Romance is my favorite genre, but I also don’t like for the main character’s life to completely revolve around whether they get the guy or girl. I love how Maas was able to focus the story on Celaena’s journey through the competition and her journey to finding herself again after being enslaved for a year.

The Verdict: I adored this book! I would absolutely recommend this book to fans of this genre. It’s full of action, romance, mystery, suspense, and so much more. If you have read this book, comment below and tell me what you thought of it!

Environments

Good morning! It’s Monday morning and time for our first lifestyle post! How many times have you sat down to concentrate on something and your brain just will not stop wandering off into oblivion? This is me every single time I try to write something. Although I love music, I can’t listen to that while I’m working because the lyrics mess me up. I’ve tried classical music, but I can only listen to so much of that. Luckily, I have found the perfect solution! It’s called Ambient Mixer and today I’d like to share my favorite mixes with you!

1. Hufflepuff Common Room
2. Storm on the Hogwarts Express
3. Summer Forest
4. Hogwarts Aesthetic
5. Maleficent’s Castle
6. In the Jungle
7. Elsa’s Ice Castle
8. Mermaids During a Storm

Check out all of their awesome mixes and create your own if you want! Let me know what your favorite sound mix is and if you create one, drop it in the comments below!

Legend- Marie Lu

Legend by Marie Lu
Rating: 4.5 Stars

The Breakdown: Although she is quite the rebel in school, June is the Republic's golden child prodigy. After the death of her brother, June sets out to hunt down his murderer, the notorious Day, who has been eluding the military and government for years. Day is the exact opposite of the golden child and the Republic's leaders will do anything to bring him down. When June finds him, she gets more than she bargained for and she begins to question everything she has ever believed. Their story is full of suspense and intrigue from beginning to end.

Favorite Quote: "Each day means a new twenty-four hours. Each day means everything's possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time."

The Review: This book had a bit of a slow start and it did take me a while to get to the point of not wanting to put it down. Lu's writing style is intriguing, to say the least. One of my favorite things about this book is that the chapters alternate between Day and June. Even though it is written in the third person, I love that we can see events from the perspective of both characters. Lu weaves a story of mystery, action, and romance that kept me hooked (from almost the beginning) until the end. After I finished reading this book, I reflected on the very beginning and could see the foreshadowing that was present from the start.

The Verdict: So, the final verdict is this... read this book! If you like mystery, check! If you are a fan of romance, check! If you enjoy action, dystopia, uprising, triple check! I highly recommend this book to fans of the young adult genre. May you be as intrigued as I was. Happy reading bookworms!
