Matched by Ally Condie

Let me start off by saying that I’ve really been into Utopian/Dystopian literature lately, so I was really excited to read this book. This is not one of those books that has a slow beginning and takes a while to get interesting. No, Condie dives right into the story from the very first page with Cassia’s Match Banquet. Cassia is, like most teenage heroines, stuck in a love triangle. But, Cassia’s story is unlike the others in that Cassia is not only choosing between two guys, she is also choosing between obedience and freedom. I, being a hopeless romantic at heart, loved every page of this book. But, this book is not just a romance novel, there are other underlying themes that are just as important (I’ll let you read the book and figure them out for yourselves). Matched fits into the mold of dystopian literature perfectly and is a great read for any fan of the genre.
