The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

The Hollow by Jessica Verday
Rating: 3 stars

"How do you say hello to someone when you've just found out that you love him?"

First, let me just say that I'm not a big fan of stories about Sleepy Hollow, but there was just something about this book that made me want to read it. Overall, I think the book was okay. The entire story was just kind of slow and I feel like it took forever to read, but I didn't completely hate it. I really like the author's writing style, but the story itself just didn't appeal much to me. There is a plot twist towards the end that I was slightly guessing at about halfway through the book. If you like stories about or related to Sleepy Hollow, then you'll probably like this.

The Montjoys

The Stepsister's Tale by Tracy Barrett
Rating: 4 Stars
More Info

It seems that recreating classic fairy tale stories has become a new trend lately. Jenni James has an entire collection of modern day fairy tales that she has recreated and, while browsing some of her titles, I came across The Stepsister's Tale and decided to check it out. This is an interesting take on the story of Cinderella. Nothing is as it seems and, at first, it is difficult to make any connections to the classic story we're all familiar with. The book is kind of slow throughout most of the story, but completely worth it.

Alchemists

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
Rating: 5 stars
More Info

If any of you have read the Vampire Academy series then you’ll know that Bloodlines is written by the same author. I read all of the VA books a few years ago and I’ve known about Bloodlines for a while, but I never got around to reading them. Since, VA is one of my favorite series of all time, I decided to go ahead and read the spin-off. If you’re familiar with the storyline then you’ll be happy to know that Sydney Sage’s story does have a few mentions of Rose, Dimitri, and Lissa (though not very many) as well as plenty of Adrian Ivashkov (I don’t know about you, but I always loved him). I’ve been a fan of Mead’s writing since her very first book and I was really excited to start this series. I won’t give too much away, but fans won’t be disappointed with this. In fact, if I were you, I’d just go ahead and buy all of the books now. I made the mistake of only buying the first book to start out (I should’ve known I’d love it), so now I’m sitting at home anxiously waiting for Amazon to deliver the rest of the series. Trust me, get them all. Happy reading! J
