I’m
having mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, the hopeless romantic in me
enjoyed the love story. The love triangle between America, Aspen, and Maxon
was pulling on my heartstrings throughout the entire book. But, on the other
hand, the logical part of me finds it odd to put 35 girls into a competition to
win over some guy, let alone to put it on television for the whole country to
watch. The Selection is basically a
written version of the Bachelor/Bachelorette. Personally, I’ve never been a fan
of the show and I’m not sure I liked it in a literary version, but the love
story was enough to keep me reading the book. At first I thought that this book
would be extremely predictable and, by page 50, I had already determined what
would happen. But, having finished the book, I have absolutely no idea what is
going to happen. And that is a refreshing thought for an avid reader.
